4. What are the general questions to ask if I want to rent an apartment?

1. What is the rent per month?

2. Is a security deposit required? If so, how much is it and under what conditions could it be held?

3. Do I need to sign a lease? If so, for how long? -The advantage of signing a lease is that the rent cannot be raised during the lease period. -The disadvantage of signing a lease is that you are legally bound to stay for the lease period or pay for the entire lease period.

4. Are there extra charges for utilities, storage space, parking space, late rent payment, etc.? If so, how much?
