ESL - English as a Second Language

Rosemead College of English (RCE) offers six levels of study in our Intensive English Program (IEP). Each level has classes in pronunciation, reading, writing, grammar, listening and oral communication. In order to determine which level is the most appropriate for a student who wishes to enroll in our program, he/she is required to take a placement test upon registration.

Beginning
Level 2
Intermediate
Level 3
High-Intermediate
Level 4
Advanced

High-Advanced

LEVEL 4 - ADVANCED

This level focuses on more intensive practice in reading, writing and speaking, fluency in mechanics and reading longer, more complex articles. Students learn high-intermediate grammar and practice in discussion groups.

After completing this class, students should be able to:

  • Take notes from a simple lecture
  • Write a well-developed paragraph or story
  • Give a group presentation
  • Listen to and discuss current events
  • Read a whole book
  • Enroll in the RCE HIGH-ADVANCED IEP - Level 5
