ESL - English as a Second Language

Rosemead College of English (RCE) offers six levels of study in our Intensive English Program (IEP). Each level has classes in pronunciation, reading, writing, grammar, listening and oral communication. In order to determine which level is the most appropriate for a student who wishes to enroll in our program, he/she is required to take a placement test upon registration.

High-Advanced

LEVEL 5 - HIGH-ADVANCED IEP

This level focuses on more frequent writing practice and advanced grammar. Students start to prepare for the TOEFL or TOEIC examinations and college and university courses.

After completing this class, students should be able to:

  • Take notes from an academic lecture
  • Write a multi-page and multi-paragraph essay
  • Participate in high level conversation
  • Keep a weekly journal
  • Give an informal speech using notes
  • Enroll in the RCE TOEFL PREP. COURSE
