ESL - English as a Second Language

Rosemead College of English (RCE) offers six levels of study in our Intensive English Program (IEP). Each level has classes in pronunciation, reading, writing, grammar, listening and oral communication. In order to determine which level is the most appropriate for a student who wishes to enroll in our program, he/she is required to take a placement test upon registration.


ABC Level 1
Beginning
Level 2
Intermediate
Level 3
High-Intermediate
Level 4
Advanced
Level 5
High-Advanced

ABC - Pre-Beginning IEP

This class enables students to acquire the skills necessary to recognize the alphabet and its accompanying sounds. Students develop survial communication in English, obtain fundamental knowledge of English and gain comprehensible pronunciation skills.

After completing this class, students should be able to:

  • Introduce themselves
  • Fill out simple forms
  • Discuss weather, food, clothing, occupations, one's appearance
  • Tell the time
  • Identify relationships
  • Enroll in the RCE Beginning IEP - Level 1
