Having a background in theatre has played a big role in the implementation of my teaching strategy. Students achieve their goals of mastering English by role-playing relative scenarios similar to their own lives. When I can connect a new study to something personal, students take a special interest and learning another language becomes something fluid and natural. I believe this is the key element attributed to the success in my classroom. Using vocabulary, writing, grammar, reading and comprehension, pronunciation, and idioms in the innovative ways of skits, dialogues, and mini-plays greatly enhance students’ speaking skills and their written language. Students gain confidence with the ability to express themselves effectively. Their personalities take stage and their confidence builds as they become proficient in English communication. The classroom becomes a place enriched with real-life stories, encouragement, learning, and laughter as we take an exciting and effective approach in second language acquisition.
